Unveil the

Bold Beauty of

Nero Rosé

… Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighbourhood ………

Shall we dance?

As the first and only wine to be made in South Africa from the Sicilian grape Nero d’Avola, the luscious, bold Nero needed a dance partner.

So, to celebrate the tenth vintage of this resilient grape being vinified in this country, winemaker Corlea Fourie produced a classic, jewelled rosé to shimmy in alongside this iconic red wine.

But how?

Did you know that actually all grape juice is colourless? Yes! It’s the grape skins that infuse the juice with colour. So, the longer the juice is left of the red grape skins, the darker it goes from blush to salmon to deep rose to dark red.

So rosé is made by simply leaving the pressed juice on the skins for a brief period to allow the wine to take on that tantalising rose gold colour.

Let’s make the circle bigger

By offering wine lovers two options of this appealing wine, there are so many more occasions to enjoy it.

The colour of an African dawn, the elegant and perfumed Nero Rosé, with hints of stone fruit and white flower blossoms, would be perfect for a brunch tipple. Serve chilled with creamy eggs benedict and salmon, or for lunch with a tangy prawn salad. Nero Rosé would also be the perfect partner served late afternoon match-side with strawberries and cream, even as a sundowner.

This is when Nero takes over. This ruby red wine with its aromas of cassis and plum sauce and hints of cinnamon and allspice follows through to a generous palate with a luscious concentration of red fruit, a well-integrated structure and a lingering finish.

It would be a great partner to a lively dinner with good friends. Serve with full-flavoured Italian dishes such as lasagna or pizza. An aromatic curry or Asian pork belly would also pair well.

From dawn to dusk and into the night….

Nero and Nero Rosé are the first wines to be made in South Africa from the Sicilian grape varietal called Nero d’Avola. It’s a variety that thrives in sun-rich, water-scarce African soil, and as such it pioneers a way, not only for resilient grape cultivars in this country, but for Africa to grow in stature as a producer of excellent, sustainable wines.

The wines are produced under the banner of Bosman Bakoena, a partnership Petrus Bosman formed with well-known actor and passionate African, Thapelo Mokoena. The partnership was established on shared values and a belief in the power of joining forces to acknowledge a unique combination that is quintessentially African. These two individuals continue to beat the drum of progress, inviting all to push the frontiers of what is possible, and to establish what is good.

….. But I know what I'm needing And I don't want to waste more time I'm in a Nero (Rosé) state of mind
